Coffin corner
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004483
The atmospheric flight regime at high altitudes where the stall speed and the maximum operating speed of an aircraft converge. Flying outside this narrow speed range can lead to either an aerodynamic stall or structural overstress due to exceeding the maximum Mach number. This region becomes narrower as altitude increases, presenting a challenge for high-altitude aircraft operations.
