Continental air

An air mass that originates over a large landmass, characterized by low moisture content and temperature extremes. It is cold and dry in winter, and hot and dry in summer, due to the absence of moderating oceanic influences. This air mass type is designated with the 'c' prefix in meteorological classification schemes.
