Corona discharge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004707
A localized electrical discharge that occurs when the electric field around a conductor is strong enough to ionize the air, but not strong enough to cause a complete breakdown or spark. This phenomenon is often observed on high-voltage power lines or aircraft in stormy conditions, appearing as a faint glow or brush discharge. It can generate radio noise and contribute to ozone production.
