Glow discharge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006003
A luminous electrical discharge that occurs in a gas at low pressure, characterized by a faint glow. This phenomenon is produced when an electric current passes through a gas, exciting the gas atoms which then emit light as they return to their ground state. It is used in some atmospheric science instruments for gas analysis or as a light source.
