Critical drop radius
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004758
The minimum radius a water droplet must possess to grow by condensation in a supersaturated environment, overcoming the Kelvin effect which favors evaporation for smaller droplets. Droplets smaller than this radius tend to evaporate, while those larger continue to grow. This radius is inversely proportional to the degree of supersaturation.
