Density correction
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004921
An adjustment applied to meteorological instrument readings to account for the difference between the actual air density and a standard reference density. This correction is necessary for instruments whose operation is sensitive to air density, such as certain types of anemometers or precipitation gauges where airflow affects the measurement. For example, the response of a cup anemometer changes with air density, requiring a correction to obtain the true wind speed under different temperature and pressure conditions.
