Index correction
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006489
An adjustment applied to a reading from a meteorological instrument to account for a systematic error in its calibration or construction. This correction compensates for a consistent offset between the instrument's indicated value and the true value of the measured variable. For example, a barometer might require an index correction if its scale is not precisely aligned with the actual atmospheric pressure.
