Drift current

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005135

An ocean current primarily driven by the frictional force of wind blowing over the water surface. These currents are typically confined to the upper layers of the ocean. The Ekman spiral describes the theoretical deflection of drift currents with depth due to the Coriolis effect.
