Drift current

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003433

The electric current that arises from the movement of charge carriers within a material under the influence of an electric field. This directed motion of charge carriers, such as electrons or holes, constitutes the drift current. Its magnitude depends on the concentration of charge carriers, their mobility, and the strength of the applied electric field.
