Migration current
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007378
The portion of the total current in an electrochemical cell that arises from the movement of charged species (ions) under the influence of an electric field. This movement is driven by electrostatic attraction or repulsion. It is distinct from diffusion current and convection current, which are driven by concentration gradients and bulk fluid motion, respectively.
