Limiting migration current
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006601
The maximum current observed in an electrochemical cell where the transport of charged species to or from the electrode surface is solely due to the migration of ions in an electric field. This occurs when other transport mechanisms, such as diffusion and convection, are minimized or absent. The magnitude of this current depends on the charge and mobility of the migrating ions.
