Limiting kinetic current

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006600

The plateau value that a kinetic current reaches once the electrode potential is pushed far enough that the charge-transfer step is no longer limiting. At the plateau the current is governed by the speed of the preceding chemical reaction that forms the electroactive substance from a non-electroactive one, not by mass transport or electron transfer. It depends on the rate constant of that reaction and on the concentration of the precursor.
