Convection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002536

The transfer of heat or mass within a fluid (liquid or gas) through the movement of the fluid itself. This occurs as warmer, less dense fluid rises and cooler, denser fluid sinks, creating a circulating current. Convection is a primary mechanism for heat distribution in the atmosphere and oceans.
