Chimney effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001998
The natural upward movement of air or gases within a vertical conduit, such as a chimney or vent, driven by differences in temperature and density. Hotter, less dense air inside the conduit rises, creating a pressure differential that draws in cooler, denser air from below. This phenomenon is also known as stack effect.
