Surface current

A horizontal movement of water in the uppermost layer of an ocean or large lake, primarily driven by wind stress and influenced by the Coriolis effect. These currents transport heat, nutrients, and marine organisms across vast distances. Major surface currents include the Gulf Stream and the Kuroshio Current.
