Wind current
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010246
A current in the sea driven by the wind, the same as a drift current or wind drift. The wind stress sets a thin surface layer moving, and the Coriolis force and friction turn the flow with depth in a spiral. Its surface speed is about 3 percent of the wind speed.
