A discrete particle of liquid water that falls through the atmosphere, formed by condensation and coalescence processes within clouds. These liquid particles are large enough to overcome atmospheric resistance and fall to the Earth's surface as precipitation. Raindrops typically have diameters greater than 0.5 millimeters.
