Electron density
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005330
The number of free electrons per unit volume within a plasma or other ionized gas. In the Earth's ionosphere, it is a key parameter influencing radio wave propagation and is measured by instruments such as incoherent scatter radars. Typical values in the F2 layer of the ionosphere can range from 10^11 to 10^12 electrons per cubic meter.
