ENP
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010493
An abbreviation for Equivalent Noise Power, a measure of the sensitivity of a remote sensing detector, such as a radiometer. It represents the amount of incident power that would produce a signal equal to the detector's own internal, random noise, resulting in a signal-to-noise ratio of one. A lower ENP value indicates a more sensitive instrument, capable of detecting weaker signals from the atmosphere or surface.
