Finestructure
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005581
Small-scale variations in atmospheric properties, such as temperature, humidity, or wind, that occur over vertical or horizontal distances of meters to tens of meters. These structures are often associated with turbulence, shear layers, or internal gravity waves. Studying finestructure provides insights into mixing processes and energy transfer in the atmosphere.
