Shear-gravity wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010751
An atmospheric wave that arises from the interaction between vertical wind shear and buoyancy forces, often occurring in stable atmospheric layers. These waves can propagate horizontally and vertically, transporting momentum and energy through the atmosphere. They are frequently observed in the vicinity of jet streams or mountain ranges and can contribute to clear-air turbulence.
