Frost boil

A localized upheaval of soil caused by the expansion of ice lenses beneath the surface, often appearing as a mound or blister. This phenomenon occurs in areas with frost-susceptible soils and sufficient moisture when temperatures fluctuate around freezing. Frost boils can damage roads, foundations, and agricultural fields.
