Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005852

A set of independent physical quantities from which all other physical quantities in a system of measurement can be derived. In atmospheric science, the most common system uses mass (M), length (L), time (T), and temperature (Θ) as the fundamental dimensions. All other variables, such as velocity (L/T) or pressure (M/LT²), are expressed as combinations of these four base quantities.
