Generalized hydrostatic equation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005898
A modified form of the hydrostatic equation that accounts for additional forces or coordinate systems beyond the simple balance between pressure gradient and gravity. It is used in atmospheric models that employ non-standard vertical coordinates or include effects like centrifugal force. This equation maintains the fundamental concept of vertical pressure distribution.
