Margules's equation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007108
A mathematical formula that describes the slope of a frontal boundary separating two air masses with different densities. The equation relates the angle of the front to the temperature contrast, the wind shear across the front, and the Coriolis parameter. It demonstrates that a steeper frontal slope is associated with a larger temperature difference and specific wind conditions between the two air masses, assuming geostrophic and hydrostatic balance.
