Gulf of Tehuantepec

A large embayment on the Pacific coast of southern Mexico, known for its strong, gusty winds. These winds, called Tehuano winds, are funneled through a gap in the Sierra Madre mountains. They can generate substantial ocean waves and currents, affecting marine navigation and local weather patterns.
