High-performance liquid chromatography
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006254
A laboratory technique used to separate, identify, and quantify components in a mixture by pumping a sample dissolved in a solvent through a column packed with a solid adsorbent material. The interaction between the sample components and the stationary phase in the column, combined with the mobile phase, causes different compounds to elute at different times. This method is widely applied in atmospheric chemistry for analyzing trace gases and aerosol components.
