Gas chromatography
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005873
An analytical technique that separates and identifies components within a gaseous or volatile liquid sample. A carrier gas transports the sample through a column packed with a stationary phase, where different compounds travel at varying speeds based on their chemical properties. This method is widely used for analyzing atmospheric trace gases and pollutants.
