Illuminance

The measure of the total amount of light, or luminous flux, falling onto a surface per unit of area. It quantifies the intensity of illumination on a surface as perceived by the human eye, distinct from irradiance, which measures total radiant energy. The standard unit of illuminance is the lux, defined as one lumen per square meter.
