Total solar irradiance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009723

The total amount of solar energy received per unit area per unit time on a surface perpendicular to the Sun's rays at the average Earth-Sun distance. This value represents the Sun's total power output across all wavelengths. It is measured in watts per square meter and is approximately 1361 watts per square meter at the top of Earth's atmosphere.
