Independently distributed
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006487
A statistical property where a set of random variables are not only independent of each other but also follow the same probability distribution. This assumption simplifies many statistical analyses and is often invoked when dealing with samples drawn from a larger population. In meteorology, this concept is sometimes applied to measurement errors or ensemble forecast members.
