Inertial forecast

A simple type of weather forecast that assumes future conditions will be the same as current conditions, essentially predicting no change. This method is most accurate for very short-term predictions, typically for a few hours, especially in stable weather patterns. Its accuracy rapidly decreases as the forecast lead time increases.
