Infiltration coefficient

A dimensionless parameter that quantifies the rate at which water penetrates the soil surface. It represents the proportion of precipitation that infiltrates the ground rather than running off. This coefficient is influenced by soil type, vegetation cover, and initial soil moisture, and is used in hydrological models to estimate runoff.
