Interference region
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006588
A spatial area where two or more wave patterns overlap, resulting in a combined wave that exhibits either amplification (constructive interference) or reduction (destructive interference) of amplitude. In atmospheric science, this can occur with sound waves, electromagnetic radiation, or even atmospheric gravity waves, affecting signal propagation or energy distribution. The resulting pattern depends on the phase relationship and amplitudes of the individual waves.
