Intrinsic wave frequency
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006627
The frequency of a wave as observed from a reference frame that is moving with the mean flow of the medium in which the wave propagates. This is also known as the relative frequency or natural frequency. It differs from the observed frequency when there is a Doppler shift due to the motion of the observer relative to the wave source or medium.
