Ionogram
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006650
A graphical record produced by an ionosonde, showing the virtual height of ionospheric layers as a function of radio wave frequency. It displays the reflection characteristics of radio pulses transmitted vertically into the ionosphere. Scientists use ionograms to determine electron density profiles and the critical frequencies of different ionospheric regions.
