Laplace transform
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006872
A mathematical operation that converts a function of a positive real variable, typically representing time, into a function of a complex frequency variable. This integral transform is widely applied to solve linear ordinary and partial differential equations by changing them into simpler algebraic equations. Solving the algebraic problem and then applying the inverse Laplace transform yields the solution to the original differential equation.
