Multicell convective storm

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007444

A thunderstorm complex composed of several individual convective cells, each in a different stage of its life cycle. New cells develop on the flanks of older, dissipating cells, allowing the storm system to persist for extended periods. These storms can produce heavy rain, hail, and strong winds, and are distinct from single-cell or supercell thunderstorms.
