Noxon cliff
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007625
A sharp poleward decrease in the stratospheric nitrogen dioxide column at winter high latitudes, found near the edge of the polar night and reported by John Noxon in 1975. Where sunlight is absent, NO2 is converted to N2O5 and nitric acid, so the column falls steeply across a narrow band of latitude.
