Obliquity of the ecliptic
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007645
The angle between Earth's equatorial plane and the plane of its orbit around the Sun, known as the ecliptic. This tilt is responsible for the seasons experienced on Earth, as it dictates the directness of solar radiation received at different latitudes throughout the year. Its current value is approximately 23.4 degrees.
