Photostationary state relation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007927
A condition in atmospheric chemistry where the rates of formation and destruction of a chemical species by photochemical reactions are approximately equal, leading to a relatively constant concentration. This dynamic equilibrium is often observed for short-lived radicals and trace gases in the troposphere and stratosphere. A classic example involves the balance between ozone formation and destruction in the presence of nitrogen oxides.
