Pi theorem

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010669

A fundamental theorem in dimensional analysis, also known as the Buckingham Pi theorem, which states that if there is a physically meaningful equation involving a certain number of physical variables, then the original equation can be rewritten in terms of a smaller number of dimensionless parameters. This theorem is used in atmospheric science to reduce the number of variables in complex problems, such as fluid dynamics, by identifying dimensionless groups that govern the system's behavior.
