A device used to measure the rate of water uptake by a plant, which serves as an indirect measure of transpiration. It typically consists of a sealed apparatus with a plant shoot immersed in water, and the movement of an air bubble or water level indicates the volume of water absorbed. This instrument is primarily used in plant physiology studies rather than routine meteorological observations.
