Pseudoequivalent potential temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008195
A thermodynamic variable that represents the temperature an air parcel would have if it were lifted pseudoadiabatically to the top of the atmosphere, all its water vapor condensed and precipitated out, and then brought dry adiabatically back to a reference pressure, typically 1000 hPa. It is a conserved quantity for pseudoadiabatic processes and is used to assess the stability of moist air. This parameter is always greater than or equal to the equivalent potential temperature.
