Radon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008355
A naturally occurring, colorless, odorless, and radioactive noble gas that is a product of the radioactive decay of uranium in soil and rocks. It can seep into buildings from the ground, posing a health risk due to its alpha particle emissions. In the atmosphere, radon-222 is used as a tracer for air mass movements and boundary layer height studies.
