Range distortion

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008400

A misrepresentation of the true distance to a target in radar displays, often caused by incorrect calibration or propagation effects. This can lead to inaccuracies in the spatial location of weather phenomena on a radar image. It differs from range aliasing, which involves echoes from beyond the unambiguous range.
