Relative current

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008502

The movement of a fluid, such as air or water, as observed from a frame of reference that is itself in motion. This differs from an absolute current, which is measured relative to a stationary point. In atmospheric science, relative currents are often considered in the context of moving weather systems or within a rotating coordinate system.
