Reverse cell
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008558
An atmospheric circulation pattern that moves in the opposite direction to the typical or expected flow for a given latitude. An example is the Ferrel cell, which is a thermally indirect circulation located in the mid-latitudes, contrasting with the direct Hadley and polar cells. This cell is driven by eddy fluxes rather than direct heating.
