Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008015
A large-scale atmospheric circulation cell that extends from the poles to approximately 60 degrees latitude in each hemisphere. It involves cold, dense air sinking at the poles and flowing equatorward along the surface, then rising at the polar front and returning poleward aloft.
