Rockair
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010726
A method of atmospheric sounding where meteorological instruments are carried aloft by a rocket and then released to descend by parachute, transmitting data during their fall. This technique allows for measurements of temperature, pressure, and humidity at very high altitudes, often into the mesosphere. Rockair soundings provide data beyond the reach of conventional radiosondes.
